Floris
Günter Beltzig explores the technical and formal possibilities of plastic to create a chair that is both comfortable and ergonomic. The user has great freedom of movement because the points of contact between the object and the body are minimal. The back of the chair, which is a narrow support for the neck and pelvis, has a continuous structural groove providing a ventilation channel. After creating a prototype in fibreglass reinforced polyester, the chair was presented at the International Furniture Fair in Cologne in 1968. Due to the complexity of the production process, in 1976 less than 60 copies will have been produced. In 1992, the owner of a Munich gallery, Wolfgang Mauer reissues the Floris in a limited edition, signed by Beltzig.
