Bouloum
The designer, painter and landscape painter Olivier Mourgue created the Bouloum chair in 1968, which he presented at the French pavilion at the 1970 Osaka World Fair. He is internationally known for designing the classic Djinn chairs, made famous by their appearances in the film, 2001: Stanley Kubrick's L’Odyssé de l’espace. The Bouloum chair is based on the silhouette of one of his friends and named after his childhood nickname. Olivier Mourgue takes the shape of a man lying down for his chair. The chair is light, easily stackable and thus follows the trend of the 1960s and 1970s, which advocated greater flexibility in living spaces.
