Champagne, CH1

The Champagne chair is part of the transparent Perspex Invisible Group collection produced from 1958 onwards by Laverne Originals. With Champagne, designers Erwine (1909-2003) and Estelle Laverne (1915-1997) intended to continue the project of Eero Saarinen (1910-1961) and his famous Tulip chair (1955-1956). On a single aluminium leg, Tulip eliminates the clutter that turns interiors into an "ugly, confusing and disturbing world". While Tulip's futuristic look anticipates the interiors of the 1960s with opaque plastic, Champagne continues this project using transparent plastic in a timeless and sophisticated design.
